Snapchat has found a new way to monetize the service through a partnership with SeatGeek.
(CCM) — Snapchat users can snap up tickets for sporting events, Broadway shows, and concerts directly from the app thanks to a new partnership with SeatGeek, a New York-based ticket sales platform.
The first organization to take advantage of the deal is Los Angeles FC, which is promoting its match against D.C. United via a Story on its Snapchat channel. Users can simply swipe up in the channel to find the best available seats and purchase them without leaving the app, according to a Tech Times report.
The next event in the pipeline is Errol Spence Jr.'s boxing match at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
SeatGeek wants to expand the service to many other events and venues across the U.S., according to Russ D'Souza, the company's founder. "We see Snapchat as an incredible opportunity for teams and artists to increase discovery of their events, while also potentially rewarding their most dedicated fans with exclusive offers," he said in the report.
Snapchat has not revealed how much it will make from the SeatGeek deal through ticket sales, but the company clearly believes it represents an opportunity to make money from its almost 200 million daily active users.
The company also began running unavoidable six-second ads on the platform to generate income from users of the service in May 2018 .
