The company has previewed 18 Microsoft-exclusive games to strengthen its Xbox One console platform.
(CCM) — Microsoft has offered a glimpse of the eagerly awaited new Xbox One Halo game, Halo Infinite, as well as showing off footage from other forthcoming releases.
These games, on show before the official start of the E3 Expo, will not be made available on Sony's rival PlayStation 4 (PS4) console. They include Crackdown 3, Forza Horizon 4, a new installment of its Sea of Thieves pirate-themed game, and Gears of War 5, the latest of Microsoft's military sci-fi shooter series.
The Xbox One game console still lags far behind Sony's PS4 in terms of sales, with 39.1 million units sold around the world compared to 7.6 million PS4 consoles, according to research quoted in a BBC report.
This has made it hard for Microsoft to get game publishers to commit to making games exclusively for its Xbox One platform.
But in terms of hardware, the Xbox One X offers more powerful graphics power than Sony's flagship PS4 Pro.
Microsoft is also able to boast the Xbox Game Pass, which is a subscription service offering streamed access to more than 100 game titles including its own new releases.
In the past this service has been criticized because games can take a long time to load, but Microsoft said that it will be introducing a new technology called FastStart which uses "machine learning techniques" to make games load faster, according to the report.
