Personalized Facebook App to Mirror Your Use
An updated, personalized Facebook's app will adapt itself to your habits.

(CCM) — Facebook has announced that it plans to roll out an update to its app that will allow it to mold itself to your usage habits. To do so, the navigation bar will be modified to display icons of the apps that you use most often.

"We want the shortcuts available in the navigation bar to reflect how an individual uses Facebook," said Facebook Product Manager Alexa Andrzejewski. "To that end, we're customizing mobile shortcuts so everyone can more easily connect with their most frequently used products, such as Profile, Marketplace, Groups, Watch, and Friend Requests."

The new navigation bar will be found at the bottom of iPhone displays and at the top of Android screens. It will replace the default menu that you see now, which currently displays the News, Watch, Marketplace, Notifications, and Menu apps. After the update, you will still be able to access the news, notifications, and the menu shortcuts from the navigation bar, but the other two spots will show you the apps that you use the most. Any app that is not in the main navigation bar will still be accessible using the Menu icon.

According to a report by Android Police, Facebook has been testing this feature since earlier this year, but the update is expected to be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks. In the pipeline is the addition of controls for you to actively customize the icons that you would like to see in your personalized navigation bar instead of having them automatically appear based on your usage.
