Amazon Plans Eight New Alexa Devices
Alexa enthusiasts will soon be able to summon the intelligent assistant from within any vehicle.

(CCM) — Amazon plans to expand its Alexa-powered product range before the end of the year with the introduction of at least eight new voice-controlled products, according to a CNBC report.

The new products will include a device designed for in-car use, an amplifier, a receiver, a subwoofer, and even an Alexa-powered microwave oven, the report claims. At least some of them will be unveiled at an Alexa event later in September, it adds.

The smart speaker market is expected to be worth $30 billion by 2024, according to a Global Market Insights report, and the new devices are designed to ensure that Amazon retains a significant portion of it by focusing on areas where people spend the majority of their time: in their home or in their car.

The new products will complement Amazon's existing Alexa-powered range which includes the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, and Echo Spot, as well devices such as its Kindle Fire tablet and Fire TV streaming device.

Amazon is facing increasing competition in the smart speaker market from Google, which is expected to release a screen-based Home competitor to the Echo Show and Echo Spot devices in the near future.
