WhatsApp Finally Gets Stickers

WhatsApp Finally Gets Stickers
Support for stickers in WhatsApp has long been expected, and now it has finally arrived.

(CCM) — WhatsApp users can now use stickers to spice up their messages as an alternative to emoji and animated GIFs, the Facebook-owned messaging service has announced.

The company has launched sticker packs made by its own designers as well as a selection of stickers from other artists, and these include hearts, smiling coffee cups, and partying dinosaurs.

The company has also added support for third party sticker packs, so anyone can create stickers for use in WhatsApp. Designers can build their sticker packs into a sticker app which can be published on Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, and users can then download the app to get access to those stickers and start using them straight away. All stickers must be exactly 512 x 512 pixels, and may not exceed 100 KB in size.

To apply a sticker, users simply tap the new sticker button and select a sticker to share, the post says. Users can add new sticker packs by tapping the "+" icon.

The new sticker functionality will be rolling out to Android and iOS users over the coming weeks.
