Stranger Things 3 Video Game Announced

Stranger Things 3 Video Game Announced
The new game will be retro-styled and follow the events of series 3 of the hit television series.

(CCM) — Fans of the smash hit horror-science fiction television series Stranger Things are celebrating following the announcement that a new video game based on the show is being created by Netflix and independent game developer BonusXP.

A trailer for the retro-style game was run by show creators Matt and Ross Duffer at the Game Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, Variety is reporting. The game is a "meticulously crafted Action Adventure RPG that pays homage to the 16-bit era," according to a press release which accompanied the announcement.

Little is known about the content of the game, because it will follow the events of the show's season 3, which will air next year. The game will also be released next year, and will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Apple Mac, and PC, according to the report.

The new video game follows a successful free mobile Stanger Things game which was released for iOS and Android devices in 2017, and has since been downloaded over 10 million times.

It comes after a Stranger Things title which was announced by Netflix in June 2018 in partnership with Telltale Games was cancelled in September 2018 when the company curtailed most of its development activities.
