Smart Jacket Issues Phone Reminder
Owners of Google and Levi's Jacquard smart jacket need never again worry about leaving their phone at home.

(CCM) — A new feature in Google and Levi's Jacquard smart jacket alerts wearers if they walk off without picking up their phone, The Verge is reporting.

The new feature, called "Always Together,” causes the "Levis Commuter Trucker Jacket with Jacquard by Google" jacket's sleeve tag to vibrate and blink if the wearer leaves home without their phone or walks out of a café without picking their phone up from the table, or if a sneak thief picks the phone up and makes off with it without the wearer noticing.

The phone itself also receives a notification, so the feature can also prevent the owner from leaving their jacket behind in a café inadvertently. That could be useful because the smart jacket retails at a hefty $350.

Aside from the "Always Together" functionality, the Jacquard jacket offers touch inputs to control music playback on the phone, and thanks to a "Bose Aware Mode" it can toggle noise cancellation on and off when connected to Bose QuietComfort 30 or 35 headphones. It can also provide navigation pings and drops pins on a map to save locations from Google Maps, and offers call and text notifications and ride-sharing alerts from Uber and Lyft.

The smart jacket was launched last year following a two year collaboration between Levi's and Google which was originally intended to develop "smart jeans."
