Amazon to Launch Cloud Gaming Service
Amazon is rumored to be gearing up to add cloud gaming to its lineup of services.

(CCM) — Rumors have begun swirling that Amazon has plans to venture into cloud gaming. According to a report by The Information, Amazon plans to combine its expertise in cloud services and video game streaming to offer a cloud gaming service.

The company is reported to already be in negotiations with video game publishers to make their games available via a forthcoming gaming platform by Amazon. Additionally, Amazon has begun posting job listings looking for engineers to work on "cloud games" and promising the chance to work on a yet "unannounced AAA games business."

Amazon already possesses links to the video games business. In 2014, it purchased the online video game streaming platform Twitch for $1 billion. It also has developed a division dedicated to video gaming, called Amazon Game Studios. Additionally, it has Amazon Lumberyard, a free AAA game development platform that provides a framework for developers to create video games.

Amazon's cloud gaming service is expected to launch sometime next year, with no precise date or pricing information yet announced.
