Apple Welcomes Microsoft Office to App Store
Apple and Microsoft have teamed up to welcome the Office 365 suite to the Mac App Store.

(CCM) — Apple and Microsoft have announced that the former will now offer the entire Office 365 suite in the Mac App Store. Applications that in the Microsoft Office bundle include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and OneDrive.

Mac users could already download these applications, but they needed to do so on Microsoft's website. To update them, they needed to use Microsoft's separate AutoUpdate tool. With the integration in the Mac App Store, users can access the download directly from their computer's built-in software, and updates of the programs are done automatically.

According to the announcement by Apple, Office 365 for Mac has been designed to support Mac-specific features, like Dark Mode and Continuity Camera.

"We are excited to welcome Microsoft Office 365 to the all new Mac App Store in macOS Mojave," said Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller. "Apple and Microsoft have worked together to bring great Office productivity to Mac users from the very beginning. Now, with Office 365 on the Mac App Store, it’s easier than ever to get the latest and best version of Office 365 for Mac, iPad, and iPhone."

In light of the step forward in the Apple-Microsoft partnership, Microsoft is offering a free one-month Office 365 trial. After the end of this trial, users will need to purchase one of Microsoft's payment plans.
