Instagram Puts IGTV Previews in Feed
Facebook-owned Instagram is pushing content from its IGTV video platform into the Instagram app.

(CCM) — Instagram users will start seeing IGTV previews on their main newsfeeds, the company has announced in a tweet.

Instagram-owned IGTV is a platform for vertical videos which are usually taken on smartphones, and the one-minute previews of popular videos will start to play automatically on users' feeds without sound. Tapping on the video will enable sound in the same way as is the case with auto-playing videos on Facebook.

IGTV was launched last year as a standalone video app, but Instagram has been exploring ways to integrate its content with the main Instagram app. This includes putting IGTV videos in the Explore tab, using notification banners for new videos in the app, and allowing users to put IGTV previews in their stories.

"Now, you can preview IGTV videos in your feed. When there's a new video from someone you follow, you can tap from your feed to watch the full video in IGTV," the company said in its announcement.

IGTV is Instagram's direct competitor to YouTube and Twitch. It allows users to upload videos of up to ten minutes in length, whilst selected popular content creators can upload videos which last up to one hour.
