Apple Unveils Additions to iPad Line
Apple has unveiled it new iPad Air and iPad mini devices in a quiet release.

(CCM) — Apple has revealed its new iPad Air and iPad mini devices, this time without the fanfare that has become synonymous with its hardware launches. In a simple press release, rather than a keynote event, Apple unveiled its new 10.5-inch iPad Air and 7.9-inch iPad mini.

The iPad Air device is designed to replace the productivity-focused iPad Pro, whereas the iPad mini is conceived with entertainment in mind, likely to draw in teenagers and students. Additionally, the mini boasts graphics that are nine times faster than previous models, with advanced Retina display and wide color support that is 25 times higher than before. Both devices support a new, ultra-boosted processor that is three times faster than previous models and advanced front- and back-facing cameras.

Experts cited by CNN believe that Apple’s hush-hush release of the two devices can be chalked up to its desire to place press attention on a forthcoming streaming-only event that is rumored to be in the works.

The iPad Air’s retail price starts at $499 and the mini starts at $399. Both devices are already available for order online and will become available in stores next week.
