Nintendo Plans Barrage of Switch Titles
Nintendo hopes a raft of new titles will broaden the appeal of the Switch console in 2019.

(CCM) — Nintendo is planning to release a wide range of titles for its hugely successful Switch console over the coming months in an attempt to broaden its appeal beyond the company's traditional "family" audience, according to a NintendoLife report.

Many of these new titles will come from third-party developers, and Nintendo says that interest from these developers in making Switch games is unprecedented.

"The number of Nintendo Switch development kits shipped to publishers continues to greatly exceed the number of kits for any of our previous platforms, and many developers are creating titles for Nintendo Switch," Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo's president, said in the report.

These titles include Cuphead, Mortal Kombat 11, Daemon X Machina, Slay the Spire, and Dead By Daylight.

Nintendo also plans to release a slew of its own titles for the Switch this year, including Super Mario Maker 2, Astral Chain, Zelda Link's Awakening, two new Pokémon games, and Luigi Mansion 3.

Nintendo is also understood to be planning to release two new variants of the Switch console in the coming months. A beefed-up version will target the high end of the market currently occupied by Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, while a lower cost stripped-down version will aim to tempt more casual gamers for whom the current Switch console is too expensive.
