Nokia 4.2 Will Be Easy On the Wallet

Nokia 4.2 Will Be Easy On the Wallet
The latest Nokia-branded handset will cost less than 10 percent of the price of Samsung's Galaxy Fold.

(CCM) — The latest Nokia smartphone, the no-nonsense smartphone Nokia 4.2, is now available for pre-order at just $189, The Verge is reporting.

Since the Nokia smartphone brand's spectacular demise under the ownership of Microsoft it has been revived by Finnish licensee HMD Global, and the Nokia 4.2 pointedly avoids competing with the flagship offerings from the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and OnePlus.

It offers users just 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM and is powered by the middle-of-the-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor. The rear-facing camera is a dual-lens 13 MP device, while the screen is a reasonably sized 5.71-inch offering a 720 x 1520 display.

One unusual feature is the dedicated intelligent assistant button. Users can press it once to wake the Google Assistant, twice to summon Google's "Visual Snapshot" feature, or hold it to make the Assistant listen indefinitely.

But the Android One-powered smartphone does offer one thing that is exceptional: value for money. At $189 it costs less than 10 per cent of the price of Samsung's troubled Galaxy Fold smartphone or the expected price of the forthcoming Huawei Mate X.

The Nokia 4.2 will start shipping on May 15, in a choice of black or pink.
