Intelligent Assistants Crowd LG TV Range
LG TV owners in the U.S. will find Alexa on their TVs several weeks before owners in other countries.

(CCM) — Amaxon's Alexa intelligent assistant is making her way on to LG's 2019 range of TVs in North America thanks to a software update which is due to be released later this month, according to a report on The Verge.

Later in the year Alexa will be joined by her rival Siri, who will be available on the LG TVs thanks to another update which will bring support for Apple's AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. This will enable users to control their LG TV using Siri or the iOS Home app, and stream content from the Apple TV app.

The Alexa capabilities were first announced at the beginning of 2019, and will work using the Alexa app or the Amazon Prime Video button on the LG TV remote. Users will be able to use Alexa on their TVs with the full range of Alexa skills and routines, enabling them to carry out tasks such as controlling Alexa-compatible smart home devices, the report says.

In the coming weeks the Alexa functionality will be rolled out to LG owners in Europe and Asia in a total of 14 countries: Austria, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, and the U.K, as well as the United States.
