Nvidia's RTX Line Gets Super Boost
The new Super variants of the RTX 2060, 2070, and 2080 graphics cards offer up to 25 per cent performance gains.

(CCM) — Nvidia's already high-end RTX line is getting a performance boost with the addition of three new "Super" variants of the RTX 2060, 2070, and 2080 desktop graphics cards, The Verge is reporting.

Two of the new cards will be priced at the same level as their "non super" counterparts, but offer average performance gains of about 15 per cent, according to Nvidia. That is not the whole story, however, because at peak performance the Super variants can achieve performance levels of between 20 and 25 per cent more than their counterparts.

There are a few notable hardware differences between the old and new cards. The RTX 2060 Super now has 8 GB of memory compared to 6 GB before, while the 2080 Super offers memory speeds of 15.5 Gigabits per second (Gbps) compared to the standard card's 14 Gbps.

In terms of pricing, the 2070 and 2080 Super cards will remain at $499 and $699 respectively, while the 2060 Super costs $50 more than the standard at $399.

The 2060 and 2070 Super cards will be available on July 9, while the 2080 Super will be launched slightly later on July 23. The company will also be offering launch bundles with two free games which take advantage of the cards' ray tracing capabilities: Remedy Entertainment’s Control and Bethesda’s Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
