The new MacBook Pro will reportedly offer a larger display in a form-factor similar to the existing offering.

(CCM) — Apple is putting the finishing touches on a new MacBook Pro with ultra-thin bezels around a new 16-inch display, according to a Digitimes report.

The original MacBook Pro design featured a 15-inch display, but the report says that the new larger display will fit in a redesigned aluminum case of a similar overall form-factor as the older model, with the thinner bezels allowing for the increased screen size offering a resolution of 3072 x 1920.

Many Apple-watchers expect the MacBook Pro to incorporate Apple's new scissor key keyboard to replace its troubled butterfly keyboard design. There are also hoping for other changes such as the introduction of a physical Escape key next to the Touch Bar and the possible re-introduction of other input/output ports besides the existing four USB-C ports.

At the very minimum the new laptop is expected to include the features introduced into the rest of the MacBook Pro line earlier this year, including a 9th generation Intel processor and Touch ID.

Digitimes says that the new high-end MacBook Pro will be manufactured by Taiwan-based Quanta Computer and will be launched in September. However, last year Apple introduced its new iPhones in September, but waited until October for the unveiling of its new iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini offerings.
