DVD/ Cd writer not wanting to work

Hello,
My dvd/cd writer drive doesn't want to work all the time....sometimes it does most times it doesn't. It will read regular cd's fine. What can I do?

hi there,

go to device manager and update its firmware

and also use a lens cleaner to clean lens
