I think it is because of the latest Java update. All I could get was a load of text boxes. If you look in Control Panel/ add and remove programs you may see a Java entry ver 7.XX .xx. and, in my case Java 6.XX.xx. I removed the version 7 and that fixed it. If you remove the wrong one inadvertantly it should just download it next time you run You Tube as it will detect that you do not have Java installed. I am running IE8 in Vista 32bit. with all current service packs.
