Now you can use your Chromecast for something you wouldn't have imagined!
We have exciting news for Chromecast device users: a new feature will enable you to use it in a new and convenient way. Say goodbye to the hassle of relocating your PS5 to a different room just to enjoy some gaming!
The one to thank for the latest addition to Chromecast is Sony. The Japanese company has introduced an official update allowing you to use your device as a terminal for streaming games from your PlayStation 5 console. The Chromecast with Google TV 4K and Sony Bravia XR A95L TV are the first devices capable of streaming PS5 and PS4 games.
No more need to relocate your console around the house just to play games in different rooms. With this new feature, you can leverage your home's wireless network to play PS5 in any room where you have a Chromecast installed. This functionality also extends to Android TVs or Google TVs with built-in support.
Update your console
If you own a Sony PlayStation 5, you might have noticed an update released a few days ago. Among the various new features, one of the most exciting additions is expanded compatibility with a broader range of devices.
Although several new features have been introduced, such as the ability to use the Remote Play function on Bravia XR A95L TVs, the most noteworthy development is the compatibility with the 4K model of Chromecast with Google TV. Given its widespread use, this addition is set to bring joy to many users around the world.
How to stream PlayStation games to Chromecast
Start your Chromecast and search for the PS Remote Play app on your TV via the Google Play store. Download, install, and then set it up, both on your console and on Chromecast. Ensure that both your Chromecast and Sony console are updated to the latest version.
- First, start with your PlayStation 5 console. Navigate to the main menu, go to Settings > System, and click on Remote Use. Activate the corresponding option to enable this mode. You can use this feature even with sleep mode activated by configuring additional options from the Power Saving menu, such as keeping the console connected to the Internet at all times – a requirement for remote play.
- Now you can go to your Chromecast and continue with the setup process. Open the PS Remote Play app and sign in with your PlayStation ID.
- Select whether you want to play with your PlayStation 5 console or PlayStation 4. Chromecast will then search for the console and establish the connection.
This new update of PlayStation 5 and Remote Play also extends compatibility to any TV running Android TV (version 12 or later). By installing the PS Remote Play app on all your devices, including smartphones or tablets, you can follow the game from anywhere at any time.
