Hello,
I use Windows Vista. I am trying to find why I can't add additional data to a dvd after I close the session. I think my program is finalizing the dvd but I don't know how to determine if in fact this is happening and what I need to do in order to change any settings. I've checked the properties on the dvd and I know there is additional space available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been there...my computer is set to live file system format and I've set the computer to close the disc manually. Here's the problem. I've copied 125 photos to a dvd+rw with 4.7 gb avalable space. According to the properties of those photos, they take up 432 mb. I've tried to add 136 more photos (properties tell me that the photos are 454 mb) to the same dvd. (I have not ejected the dvd.) Here's the message that I get..."This dvd-rom drive is read-only. You can copy files to this writable dvd but you must insert it in a writable drive." This is the same drive that I used to copy the first 125 photos. Help!!!

have you tried ejecting the dvd and reinserting it. i see you've manualy closed the session so until you eject the dvd the session won't close properly.

just a thought

Hi...

I've ejected the dvd and reinserted it...I've even shut down completely and rebooted. No change. Now I'm merging the two files into one and trying to copy to another dvd...hopefully all will be transferred. Perhaps this is just one of those "quirks" Vista. If you have any other possible solutions I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for your help up to now.

that's vista for you, look on the bright side, if the dvd is dvd/rw then at least you haven't wasted it, just reformat and use again.

Hi Sharpman...

Thanks so much for your help. It's nice to know that there are knowledgeable people out there willing to spend time with those of us who are technologically (is that a word?) challenged. Have a great day!!!
