Wi-fi trouble

Hello,



My computer does not recognize the wireless connections in the surrounding area and i am not sure what i did wrong - i have tried switching the wi- fi on and off it does not recognize any connections. I have an asus computer with windows XPpro internet explorer 6 i think - do you possibly have any suggestion.
