Dvd R/RW drive unable to see commercial dvds

Hello,
Mydvd R/RW drive unable to see commercial dvds. Sees CDs and older DVDs and ripped DVDs fine-but newer commercial dvds, it dosen't even recognize as in the drive-no errors or anything. It will attempt to read and I can hear the drive making a stuttering sound, then nothing.
Any ideas?

Dear Sir,

It could in fact be coming from its lens. Please have it cleaned in order to get the problem fixed.
