Hello,
my wife has a ACER laptop with Windows Vista and previously worked for a school in VA where there was a Proxy server. For some reason that proxy setting keeps re-appearing and now it is screwing up Firefox too, which it wasn't previously. My only resolve is to go into LAN settings and de-select use Proxy Server and when I do that it doesn't last too long and seems to re-appear magically from one day to the next/

Hello,
Check proxy settings in group policy.
1) Click on Start --> Run --> Type gpedit.msc and click on OK.
2)Click on "User Configuration" --> Windows Settings --> Internet Explorer
Maintenance ---> Connections --> double-click on "Proxy Settings" --> Make sure
that "Enable proxy settings" option is unchecked.
