The good news is a Linux computer can't get infected by 99.99% of the viruses because they are Windows ONLY programs. You should use the acer aspire one web site to download packages (programs) since you are not an experienced Linux user. I, with 30+ years of computer use, also can't download and install Linux programs from most sites. The Acer site might have a help forum that will give specific information about the Aspire One. Good Luck
