I am not a fan of freeware as it normally comes bundled with software you don't need and sometimes they throw in a virus for good measure. However, for those that are willing to take the risk, the software in and by itself may solve an immediate problem. The shareware may give outside hackers a foothold into gaining access to your computer. I like playing it safe.

Doesn't require lot of resources, runs on small configuration.
Compatible with most versions of the Windows OS platforms
