Really bad virus problem.

Hello,
A long time ago one of those viruses that says its anti virus software but its not and I think it made it so i couldnt open the start menu or task manager so i shut it off and unplugged it so it wouldnt ruin my computer. ( by the way it windows xp professional). What do I do?!

try to download and install the MalwareBytes AntiMalware software to get rid of the virus.
