Really have to help me!!!! I've tried !!!

Hello,

I cannot connect my internet via LAN, but my modem is perfectly fine cause the DSL light is still on but the ETHERNET light does not on........ I think is my laptop's network adapter malfunction cause I did not plug in anything but it says unidentified network and the lights of the adapter both red and orange kept flashing. I think is cause by the short-circuit. I've try to disable and enable again for so many times and reboot the whole laptop too.... but it kept saying unidentified network and the Ethernet light at the modem did not on too...... HELP ME!!!
