Uprgrading your house?

Hello,
i don't have a phone in my kitchen? And i have been upgrading repairs and fishing and stuff but i cant do gardening? Cos theres no way to do it? And i can't upgrade my house either. Any one know how to?
And if it matter's my phone is a Nokie E51

Dear Teliah Bell,

There will be an automatic message that will come while time goes by in the Sims world and it will

indicate you that you are now ableto upgrade your house. Then just get to the build mode and do

the necessary upgrades.
