Hello,
Hi,
I have problem which is described below:

The inside wall is positive (19.5 volts) the outside wall is negative and the center pin sends a signal to the laptop telling it's ID and that's how the laptop knows the characteristics of the power adapter and knows how to charge the battery. The laptop will run fine from the AC adapter when connected to the wall even without the middle pin but it will not charge the battery without a functional and connected middle pin.

The battery is not charging probably it is a problem with the middle pin. The middle pin while the power adapter was on was touched with the inside wall of the DC power plug and then it was just a short sound and the LED light in power adapter went off. Then when I unplugged power adapter and plugged in again the LED light was on and power adapter was working again, but may be because of touching the middle pin with inside wall of the DC plug the middle pin could became broken?

Hope to hear from you soon, Hope that there is some solution to fix the middle pin that the battery will be charging again. The laptop is Dell Inspiron 1720.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi dancedhall,
Thank you for your reply and the help. I appreciate.
But the battery hold a charge for a long time. I do not think that the battery is broken.
I think may be there is another problem.
Is telling me at the beginning when I am starting the computer that may be there is not enough Watt it needs to be 90W is telling me.

And on the battery there is a power meter showing how full is the battery and that thing is working too.

I think it can be a problem with the power adapter. But I can be wrong.

Thank you any way for your thoughts about that matter I appreciate.

Best wishes,
