Hello,
i am sunil,
i have a hp pavlion dv6 laptop in which windows 7 was previously installed.
now i want to uninstall windows 7 and install xp
when i put the xp cd and restart the computer,
there is getting a message
"CHECK FOR VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER. REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARD DRIVES OR HARD DRIVE CONTROLLERS. CHECK YOUR HARD DRIVE TO MAKE SURE IT IS PROPERLY CONFIGURED AND TERMINATED.RUN chkdsk \f TO CHECK FOR HARD DRIVE CORRUPTION, AND THEN RESTART YOUR COMPUTER".
THIS MESSAGE IS NOT RECTIFIED BY ANY MEANS.
PLEASE GIVE ME SOLUTION.
and if i put the vista disk or windows 7 disk,
i was unable to delete the patition, ie, the delete partition option is not highlighted there, and all my drioves are not visible at the stage of istallation of vista
can you help me please.......

This is a complex problem that stems from the fact that the Windows XP CD does not have drivers for the advanced SATA controller in the laptop. I suggest you search this forum and the internet for the terms "slipstream" and "nlite". If you can find the proper driver you can use the nlite program to slipstream the driver into a custom Windows XP install disk. This is only the start of your problems - you will not have hardware drivers for the video, network interface and sound chip.
