No icons, taskbar, task manager on startup

Hello,
On startup in Windows XP, i don't have icons, a taskbar, or a task manager when i press Ctr-Alt-Dlt. I have no idea what's wrong - maybe explorer.exe maybe got deleted?? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks for the info, but the problem is that I cant download that software b/c i cant run anything

You can try to run in "safe mode" (F8 at the Windows start).

Thank you! I resolved the prob by restoring my computer to factory settings . . . Not ideal but it's up and working. Thanks for the advice
