Wont turn on

i have a sony vaio pcg 9l1m and have had for good few years. Battery was terrible but with charger in it always worked. Then where the charger connects to the laptop the plastic bit snapped? would like to know what that is called and where to get one from? I meen the plastic on the laptop not the actual charger,
it worked still if the charger was in a funny way so all good.
Now come to it after my mum moved it and it wont come on :/
no matter what. But the charger now makes a funny ticking noise :/
think a new cheap second hand genuine charger is needed but trouble is i can not find one on ebay?
does any one know if like most sony vaio chargers will work or which ones will??

it would be cheaper to buy a brand new laptop, with a brand new battery and fast than your old one

keep your HDD on your old laptop and buy something so its an External HDD and put your data onto a new laptop

its not worth the time to buy a new adapter, a new battery, and a new plastic contucter (which i don't think can be replaced)

buy a $500 laptop Windows 7, and you'll be amazed how much easier it is to get a laptop working agian :P
