Counter strike error plz help

on windows xp ive installed counter strike 1.6. but when i run it the options like create server, find server dont appear and the screen goes of for sometime and then gets back to the desktop.. plz help

Do you have at least the minimum requirements to play the mentioned game?lease give your computer specifications for further help on issue.
