My Computer freeses up on some things

When i get on my comp and open a window msn or a browser it randomly freezes for no reason and the browser goes black but then in couple seconds i can use it again. but it keeps doing this. when im playing a video the video keeps on freezing which freezes up the whole computer until i wait a while but it repeats this with any kind of video. anyone know whats wrong here
