Comparing two values on spreedsheet

Hello,

I have to sheets (Sheet1 and Sheet2), Sheet1 contains ID_Numbers and Lastname, Sheet2 contains ID_Numbers only, I want to compare ID_Numbers on Sheet2 to the ones on Sheet1, if the match is found, copy the Lastname across to Sheet2 matching that particular sheet.

Sheet1 Sheet2

ID_Nr Lastname ID_Nr Lastname
34 Smith 21
21 Botha 345
345 Wayne 34
55 Banks 78
78 Williams 1

I have like 5000 records, PLEASE help

have you tried function VLOOKUP ?

I tried using VLookup but I guess my formula was bad. I'm not really good with excel formulas.
Please elaborate for me maybe that would help.

Could you please upload a sample EXCEL file WITH sample data, macro, formula , conditional formatting etc on some shared site like https://authentification.site , http://docs.google.com, http://wikisend.com/ , http://www.editgrid.com etc and post back here the link to allow better understanding of how it is now and how you foresee. Based on the sample book, could you re-explain your problem too
