so basically,...my lacie 1 tb external hardrive dropped on the floor. trying to turn it back on, the LED doesn't flicker, so i figure that it's still working. but usually what happens when the drive's turned on is it makes this short whining sound as it loads, and then starts. unfortunately after it dropped, the sound doesn't stop until about 10 seconds, and nothing comes on the screen indicating that it's open. i don't want to do anything to it for now like turning it on anymore. does anyone have an answer ?...this is obviously a guy who has no clue about computer hardware so any advice would be helpful.
The hard drive may have been displaced from the enclosure inside or the electronic components have been damaged,purchase an enclosure to fix it on and try ,it should work.
