Hello, CAN ANYBODY HELP I HAVE A COMPAQ PRESARIO DESKTOP WITH VISTA HOME EDITION ILL BE WORKING THEN ALL THE SUDDEN IT WILL SHUT DOWN FOR NO REASON THEN IT WONT RESTART IT KICKS THE SIGNAL OFF TO THE MONITOR AND I HAVE TO FOOL AROUND WITH IT DISSCONECTING THE POWER AND USING SYSTEM RESTORE SOMETIMES TO GET IT BACK UP WHENEVER IT USSUALLY SHUTS DOWN ITS WHEN IT GIVES ME THAT POPUP THAT SAYS GIVE WINDOWS PERMISSION TO OPEN THE PROGRAM AND SOMETIMES FOR NOTHING ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS PLEASE HELP CANT AFFORD NEW ONE.

You could try a format.

HA JACK I SEE YOU SAID TRY A FORMAT,COULD YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THAT MEANS AND HOW TO DO IT,I JUST STARTED USING COMPUTERS ABOUT A YEAR AGO SO IAM NOT THAT FAMILIAR WITH THINGS YET THANKS THOR.

Formatting is like freshening up a drive one more. It deletes your old data of the drive. Basically it is used in windows installations when you want to start all over again on your computer. First thing, I'd like to ask you is do you have a Vista DVD - ROM, or Vista DVD.
