Computer won't turn on!

Hello,
Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a dell laptop and the battery went dead we plugged it into the regular power cord and it still won't turn on. So my question is If the battery is dead is the hard drive dead?

Did you try starting it with the battery completely removed?

No I have not. I know the battery is completely dead. So I will try and start it tonight with the power source. Thank you so very much. I will let you know.
