Installing a secondary sata hd

Hello,
How are you, and thanks in advance of any issues that may be resolved from this thread.
I have installed a secondary sata hd in my windows 7 PC and wish to format it, my problem is when I go to disc management and click on storage I only see my primary (C:\) partition, how do I partition the new hd, if I can't see it? thanks again.

Have you got the power on too?

does the hard disk spin?

does the hard disk work?

If you cannot recognise it in disk manager then it isnt detecting at all.


reboot your PC and see if you can see two drives in the POST screen.

try going into your BIOS (normall F2 on bootup) and reset this to defaults.

it may be that your motherboard is in RAID mode and not SATA mode.
