Hello,
I connected a good hard disk with sata/ide cable externally. Usb and power connected. I can feel the drive spinning but no removable disk is seen on 'my computer' folder. how can I get my data? What am I doing wrong? I tried diskmgmt.msc and devmgmt.msc on run option but nothing changed.

Thanks.

You used a USB converter cable and an external power adapter?

Did you try to connect the USB cable AFTER the PC has booted? You should see a Windows message about a "mass storage device" being detected when you plug the USB cable in.

Hello xpcman,

Thanks for your reply.

The answer is yes to both questions. I connected the usb when the pc was on and did not reboot. I expected that when I insert the us the icon of mass storage device appears like when I insert a pendrive. However nothing appears when inserting the usb for sata.
