Sum certain cells in a column if corresponding cells of another

Hello,

I want to sum certain cells in a column if corresponding cells in another column contain a certain letter.

I have amounts in cells G2:G12. Cells L2:L212 might contain an X. I want the sum of only the cells in column G that have an X in the corresponding cell of column L.

when "Contains X" is said, does it mean that one of the letters would be X or would there be only X in the cell. If later is the case, then you want to look into SUMIF function
