Hello,

I am struggling with a fairly basic excely problem.

I have 2 colums Feb 2012 and Feb 2013 each have a number of different crime types in them.
I would like a table showing a count of the number of each crime type for each month.

Eg
.................F2012.......F2013
Assault.........3................0
Burglary........2................4
Theft...........0................2
Robbery........1................5
Drugs...........0................3

I can manage a pivot table for each column but I cant get a side by side comparison.

Any help appreciated.

Jon

Hi Jon,

If I am correct, you have provided the final format of the table? I can design the same for you, request you to kindly provide the raw data from which you want to make this table.

Please do write back to us.

So my original data looks a bit like this:

2012........2013
Theft.....Burglary
Theft.....Robbery
Drugs.....Theft
Assault...Drugs
Robbery...Robbery

Etc... there are a few hundred rows though.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Jon,

Thank you for providing the Raw Data format. I have created your desired table using COUNTIFS() Worksheet Function of Microsoft Excel. I have uploaded the sample file here:
