Connect pc via lan cable

Hello,
dear i have successfully connected pc via LAN cable but pc is asking network user id and password..i wrote my user a/c id and password but still its showing wrong id and password..NOW what should i do

I would like to assist you with this issue, please reply with the following details:

1. Operating System on both the PC.
2. Type of computers, laptop/desktop.
3. Network cards in the machine.
4. Purpose of share such as file sharing, server, etc.
