Dvd burning

Hello,
when i try to burn a dvd from my pc i keep getting a message telling me my comp. is not quallified to download i have a hp pavillion that came with me and i have upgraded to windows xp can you tell me if there is a program that i can download free to burn dvd from my comp.i have tried to download silverlight but my system wont let me .any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you
