in excel 2007
clcik excel icon on top left and click excel options
click advanced
check (put a tick) against
"enable fill handle and cell drag-on ....."
hit ok at the bottom
type in A1
TC001
take the cursor to bottom right of A1
The cursor will become plus sign(+)
click this plus, hold and drag down as many cells as you like.

why merge cells? is it for sosmetic purposes. iln that case demerge and do this and merge again. otheriwse post the data. or send the file through speedyshare.com

try at the end of the merged cells. does it work.
