I just reread your first post and wonder whar you mean by "I tried putting an additional ram which did not fit the slot"? If the new stick does not fit then how did you get it in?
Are you using the correct type of RAM?
Did you force it in?
I fear you may have broken the motherboard if this is what you did.
You have still not said if it works with only the original RAM installed in their original slots.

Try removing the new RAM. If it works its a faulty stick of RAM.
