Failure in open a computer to its system.

I have a dell desktop computer & whenever I connect to power and system unit it does nothing on screen only tells me, "in power save mode, press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse" though when I do as recommended nothing happens...what is solution for that in order to start up my computer. please help!
