I have a worksheet that list property sales from year 2000 to 2012. I'm trying to mark all property sales into different quarters that is all sales from 1st January to 31st March be marked "1", all sales having date from 1st April to 30th June be "2", all sale between 1st July to 30th September marked "3" and all sales from 1st October to 31st Dec be marked "4"

I got about 5,000 record in my sales worksheet. Please advise

suppose data A1 to A6 BS b1 TO b6
hdng1 quarter
1/12/2012 1
4/11/2012 2
7/10/2012 3
10/8/2012 4
1/6/2013 1

FORMLA in B2 is
=ROUNDUP(MONTH(A2)/3,0)
copy it down
