Converting data in one column spanning three to four rows

dear sir
i have an address book over 500 addresses in column A.
i am not able to index the book alphabetically
i need to shift the data in a2 of the column A to the b1 and a3 to c1 and a4 to d1
i need to do this for all the 500 addresses so that i can sort alphabetically based on column A which will have only the names left

Hi.

Try this ...

Select the range of data you want to rearrange.
Press Ctrl and X at the same time (the cells disapear).
Right-click the first cell where you want to paste the data.
Choose "Transpose" under the Paste Heading (the data reapears in the way you want it).
Save your Worksheet.

Oh well! I guess that they know what they are doing, who would want to argue with the white coats and risk getting another enema and be forced to swallow pint of prune juice?
