Xiaomi Is Preparing to Launch a Phone With a Battery That Won't Require Charging for Days

One of the main challenges in smartphone design is balancing battery life, charging speed, and size. Xiaomi may have found a way to combine these three elements.

Smartphone battery technology continues to advance each year, extending the limits of what our devices can achieve. Today's smartphones typically feature batteries between 4000 and 5000 mAh, with some models like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and OnePlus 12R offering up to 6000 mAh. These high capacity batteries enable users to operate their devices for days without needing a recharge, even with regular use.

The pursuit of the ideal smartphone, a device that combines a powerful, long-lasting battery with a sleek design and rapid charging is ongoing. The Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro and similar models lead with the most durable batteries on the market, but Xiaomi is rumored to be working on a major breakthrough in battery technology.

Insider DCS reports that Xiaomi is developing new battery formats that could redefine expectations. These include the conventional 5000 mAh + 120W and 5500 mAh + 100W configurations, along with a new 7500 mAh battery. This innovative battery is expected to support fast charging up to 100W or even 120W, potentially reaching a full charge in just over 60 minutes. Despite this quick charging time, the battery could last up to three days without needing a recharge.

Notably, even with this significant battery capacity, the phone is expected to maintain a slim profile, thanks to the shift from traditional lithium-ion to newer silicon-based batteries. These silicon batteries offer higher capacity in a smaller size, allowing for thinner, more stylish smartphones without compromising on power.

While the exact release date for this groundbreaking phone remains unknown, the Xiaomi 15 series, expected this fall, is anticipated to include a 6000 mAh battery. However, Xiaomi may surprise the market with an even more powerful option, setting new standards for smartphone battery life and performance.

As the smartphone industry continues to evolve, advancements like these from Xiaomi could soon eliminate battery anxiety, offering users longer lasting, faster charging devices that are as sleek as they are powerful.
